إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ


Asad : save Iblis: he gloried in his arrogance, and [thus] became one of those who deny the truth.57
Malik : except Iblees; he acted arrogantly and became one of the disbelievers.
Mustafa Khattab :

but not Iblîs,1 who acted arrogantly,2 becoming unfaithful.

Pickthall : Saving Iblis; he was scornful and became one of the disbelievers.
Yusuf Ali : Not so Iblis: he was haughty and became one of those who reject Faith. 4228

 The command to bow down was a test of obedience. Satan arrogantly refused to comply because he believed he was superior to Adam (ﷺ).
