| وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَقُولُ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَمَا هُمْ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Asad | : | And there are people who say, "We do believe in God and the Last Day," the while they do not [really] believe. |
| Malik | : | There are some people who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day" yet they are not true believers. |
| Mustafa Khattab | : | And there are some who say, “We believe in Allah and the Last Day,” yet they are not ˹true˺ believers. |
| Pickthall | : | And of mankind are some who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day, when they believe not. |
| Yusuf Ali | : | Of the people there are some who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day" but they do not (really) believe. 33 |

We now come to a third class of people, the hypocrites. They are untrue to themselves, and therefore their hearts are diseased (ii. 10). The disease tends to spread, like all evil. They are curable but if they harden their hearts, they soon pass into the category of those who deliberately reject light. |
